"I think you always need to have a passion in life. When you’re young it is the perfect time to discover things about yourself. As you grow up you learn what you like and dislike. But the things that you like and dislike are forever changing. So realise if you stop liking something, to move on to something new. But I always look at the positive sides of the hard work, and the benefit it will eventually give me. There is always a bright side of things."

What's the purpose of this website?

This website is a continuation of our book; Overcome. Obviously print runs cost money, so we decided to set this website up as a place where people can come and read stories as well as share their own. We hope these stories provide awareness and advice on Mental Health, as well as inspiration.

We believe we have found a niche where people who have been affected by mental illness, want to use their story to help, by giving advice to others going through something similar. We have stories with all different types of experiences and perspectives on mental illness, and hope that they will really resonate with everyone.

We hope this website will spread awareness and information about mental illness that is useful for New Zealanders. As well as help those battling with mental illness to realise they are not alone, and though taking that first step and reaching out for help is scary and daunting, it is so essential for recovery. We also hope this website will help spread awareness about mental illness to those that are lucky enough to not go through it. This should give them a better understanding and outlook on mental illness overall, and hopefully make them a lot more accepting of mental illness in our society.
